ENG
Távia Jucksch (1994) is a visual artist, born and based in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil. She holds a degree in Painting from EMBAP and develops oil on canvas works based on her personal photographic archive, creating compositions that move between figurative and abstract, often marked by dark and muted tones. Her practice explores autobiographical experiences through her perspective as a woman and a mother.
Since childhood, she has cultivated a collector’s and investigative gaze. Growing up on a small farm, she devoted herself to observing and cataloging elements of nature, gathering nests, bones, branches, and insects, as well as assembling terrariums and creating albums of pressed plants. This early interest in detail and the materiality of life has been reflected in her artistic practice.
Still in childhood, at the age of nine, she joined the Youth Center for Fine Arts of Paraná, and through her adolescence, she studied watercolor, botanical illustration, and anatomical drawing. While pursuing her Fine Arts degree at EMBAP, she delved into poetic research linked to the body, which also led her to the tattoo scene—a practice she kept for seven years before fully returning to painting.
The birth of her two children, in 2020 and 2021, profoundly transformed her artistic trajectory, intensifying her pursuit of intimate and visceral expression. Since then, her work articulates experiences of the body and motherhood through natural elements that function as visual metaphors. This approach resonates with Tarkóvski’s poetics, which conceive nature as a mirror of internal states, and with Von Trier’s aesthetic, marked by the exposure of vulnerability and the catharsis of trauma. Her paintings configure a transitional space in which intimate experience unfolds into landscapes and visual narratives.
